Donna Durand is a recreation therapist and singer songwriter. As a seniors’ advocate and educator, Donna is passionate about delivering the message aging can be victorious. Donna has had the privilege of sharing workshops and presentations with thousands of community members and at major conferences. Donna has worked front line to administration in health care and housing and is sensitive to issues around natural aging, aging in community and dementia care promising practice.
As a singer songwriter Donna focuses on the same principles as in dementia care: feelings matter most. She has been honoured with Red Deer Mayor’s award for excellence in performing and fine arts, and has opened for Ian Tyson. Her CD The Road Back, capturing a prairie sentiment, is receiving worldwide airplay. In recognition of her efforts in seniors’ advocacy and fine arts, Donna’s name has been added to the Wall of Fame at the Camrose Composite High School.
